Roger Johnsonbaugh, MD, PhD
Pediatric Endocrinologist
Dr. Johnsonbaugh is on staff at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and provides service to the Children's Rehabilitative Services, and the Arizona New Born Screening Unit. He also participates in various FDA drug research studies.
Dr. Johnsonbaugh received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1962 and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1973. Pediatric residency was completed at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1965. From 1966 - 1972, Fellowships were completed in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Postdoctoral Research from The Children's Hospital of Columbus, Ohio, College of Medicine and the University Hospitals, Columbus, Ohio, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Dr. Johnsonbaugh served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1988 stationed initially in Pensacola, Florida where he was on staff at the Naval Hospital. Dr. Johnsonbaugh also participated in the Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Dr. Johnsonbaugh held directorate positions in research and development in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Wyeth-Ayerst Research, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, U.S. Medical Affairs & Clinical Development.
In 1995, Dr. Johnsonbaugh began private practice in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Johnsonbaugh holds state medical licenses in Arizona, Washington, Utah, Pennsylvania, District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina and Ohio. He is a Diplomate in the American Board of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Endocrinology, American Board of Pediatrics and its Subspecialty Committee of Pediatric Endocrinology. He also is a member of The Endocrine Society, Society for Pediatric Research, American Federation for Clinical Research, and the American Medical Association.
